OEC Forum on AI: Disruptive Innovation for Education
On January 31, 2020, Office of the Education Council (OEC) held the academic conference entitled “The First OEC Forum on AI: Disruptive Innovation for Education” with the view to preparing policy implications on education. Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, Chairman of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Senate of Thailand presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Taking place at the Berkeley Hotel Pratunam, Bangkok, the event welcomed more than 200 participants, comprising the members of the Education Council, the executives of the Education Council, the executives of main agencies under the Ministry of Education, Education Personnel, representatives of agencies, and other people concerned.
Dr. Suphat Champatong, the Secretary General of the Education Council, reported that OEC has main responsibilities on conducting education policy and plan, standards, research and evaluation on education. An important mission which has been carried out in a row is the analysis on urgent issues of the educational situation. Organised successively since 2016, the OEC Forum in the year 2020 will take place 5 times of which the first is today’s event.
The topic of the conference is designed in realisation of the significant roles of innovations and technologies, especially artificial intelligence or AI. If educational institutions fail to adapt themselves to this change, they cannot develop the learners’ skills and competencies suitable for making a living. OEC is honoured by Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, Chairman of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Senate of Thailand presided over the opening ceremony and delivered a special lecture. In addition, the event has outstanding speakers presenting special lectures on various topics and sharing their experiences and knowledge, namely Dr. Krissnapong Kirtikara, Chairman of the Committee on National Strategy on Developing and Strengthening Human Capital; Dr. katanyoo klubsuwan, President of the Smart Cities Thailand Association; and Prof. Dr. Suchatvee Suwansawat, Chairman of The Council of University Presidents of Thailand.
