Dr. Suphat Champatong, Secretary-General of the Education Council, presided over the opening of the seminar - how to proceed waste reduction, waste segregation and environmental protection at the OEC for
the year 2019 on 14th March. A speaker from the Pollution Control Department was invited.
The Secretary-General stated that “the purpose of this seminar was to promote and support OEC officers to understand and beware for waste reduction, waste segregation and environmental protection at the office. According to the size of the office, internal waste management system is so easy. Basically, the 3Rs or Reuse, Reduce and Recycle are common but the 2Rs or Reject and Rethink are additionally concerned
for waste management; for example, refuse to use a plastic bag and considering daily consumption of resources”.
The government has had an initiative for governmental offices to launch activities supporting waste segregation at the office in order to be a model for residents and private sectors. The most significance
of waste segregation is to build awareness without any feeling of being forced and to successfully create a long-term behavior on waste segregation.
